Sheffield might be well known for its unique music scene or the steel industry – but what about as an area for tourists?

With the Office for National Statistics reporting a rapid increase in the tourism industry in the UK over the last few years, people might begin wonder what their city is doing to promote itself.

 “There’s such a rich heritage in Sheffield and it deserves to be recognised.”

And sure enough, here in Sheffield, we have the Time Walk Project.

Eight people who wanted to promote the city’s heritage set up the organisation back in 2012 – and it has gotten bigger and bigger each year since, with a range of genders, ethnicities and ages attending the different events.

The project is associated with over 2,000 events each year in the area. They help to promote local heritage, historical buildings, and have more recently started planning ‘graded walks’ for people. Continue reading
